:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from peter veitch -- Starts with a bang of brilliance, whimpers out with faith assertions : The first 2/3 of book are loaded with very good insights, well worth buying for that. The remainder fizzles our with oh but zombie resurrection magic is real. Does a good job of analysis Rè Paul’s enculturated views but annoyingly keeps asserting that god magic is real , no “cheap apologetic” ( author’s words ) yet again & again yada yada reanimated corpse is a fact . - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Animal -- Opened My Eyes to a New View : Excellent book. Entirely changed the way that I have looked at the origins debate. I have been a lifelong literal creationist for most of my Christian life. But, in recent years I have begun to question this view and look a bit closer at how evolution could in fact be reconciled with the creation story. And, this book has most certainly helped with this journey. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2014 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Ipanth -- An Example of Conversational Scholarship : As the title suggests, Peter Enns is not afraid to address some tough questions. Yet, the book is not sensationalistic. That is, Enns is not jumping into the controversy for the sake of controversy. Nor does Enns claim to have the answers to the questions. Though concerning our understanding of Adam in scripture, he certainly suggests some solutions that must be seriously considered. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2015 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Andy Wynham -- A Necessary Challenge : Peter Enns tackles the issue and tension of biblical creation versus evolution specifically using the Adam story as told in Genesis and as referenced by the Apostle Paul. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2016 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Starburst -- I Did Enjoy Reading this. : This writer is out to convince an audience which he is fully aware may not be entirely sympathetic to what he has to say; especially an American one. And indeed, sometimes he will labour a rather obvious point unnecessarily to this end. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 14, 2017 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mr. S. J. Mckee -- Great book : This is a terrific and valuable contribution to the Christianity-Evolution discussion. Great food for thought for every faithful Christian to consider from a highly qualified and respected voice ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 7, 2018 )

The story of human origins is complicated since our ancestors swapped genes (and probably skills). Human Evolution Was Messy. The human lineage of Australopithecus afarensis, Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Neanderthals and Homo sapiens. Human evolution is the lengthy process of change by which people originated from apelike ancestors. Scientific evidence shows that the physical and behavioral traits shared by all people originated from apelike ancestors and evolved over a period of approximately six million years. The Bible says that God used "the breath of life" to animate the first humans, and the immortal soul is a form of vitalism. Darwin and his ideas came under ferocious attack, particularly from outraged Christians. The theory of evolution said nothing about how that first organism came into being.
